UC Irvine Extension Offers New Career Building Webinar Series
Created For Those Looking to Gain a Competitive Advantage in the Job Market
IRVINE, Calif. – February 29, 2012 – Job searching in a down economy can be challenging. As a response, the University of California, Irvine Extension is offering a new webinar series titled, “Navigating Your Career: How to Stand Out in a Tough Economy.” Created to aid job seekers and those looking to make a career change, the five session webinar series will provide specific tactics to bolster a career search. Led by Kirwan Rockefeller, Ph.D., a published author and editor of The California Psychologist, who has more than 15 years of experience as a personal coach and motivational speaker, the webinars will take place online every Thursday from April 12 to May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST.
“Showcasing your strengths and skills effectively in a tough job market is now more crucial than ever – especially when competition is ever increasing,” said Rockefeller. “By participating in this webinar series, job seekers will become more informed about resources available, career advancement planning, and how to enhance their value with employers no matter what industry they are interested in.”

In addition, UC Irvine Extension offers a range of free career resources including online self-access career planning modules. These modules cover how to create search plans, developing a personal brand, learn the "why" and the "how" of networking to land the ideal job, using social media, job clubs, how to utilize the web to build or expand a personal network, and build a powerful resume. Another free resource includes educational planning sessions, which are informational webinars that offer industry insight and continuing education information on the thousands of courses and programs offered through UC Irvine Extension. Internships are available as well through select certificate programs.
