The Strategic Leadership Development Certificate Program is focused on leadership skills essential to being an effective executive, manager, supervisor, or team member. This program begins by exploring the principles of leadership, and how they are different from management skills, and continues by addressing the essential skills of creating a strategic vision, influencing others, leading others, and delivering results.

About the Direct Assessment Format

This direct assessment program is not based on time spent in the classroom, but on the quality of work done on multiple Learning Projects. You will have an option to work with a mentor to master concepts or demonstrate your existing mastery by completing the Learning Projects on your own and submitting them for evaluation.
For each project, you are given a set of resources that were curated by a subject matter expert. These resources include videos, lectures, and readings from a variety of sources. You can schedule online office hours where you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss leadership concepts in real-time with the mentor. You will also have the opportunity to reflect on the concepts presented and interact with other learners by participating in online discussion forums. It is up to you to determine how much interaction you have with the mentor and in how many discussions you participate. The final project, in which you are given a case study or asked to identify a specific situation from your employment history and address several essential questions, is the only submission assessed.
- Start anytime – As soon as your register, you may begin the Learning Project
- Earn your certificate in as little as one quarter – You may register and complete all five Learning Projects within the same quarter

This program is targeted to professionals who want to become effective leaders and change agents in their organizations through essential leadership competencies.
Certificate Eligibility and Requirements
A certificate is awarded upon completion of five (5) Learning Projects with a grade of “C” or better for a total of 15 units. To become an official candidate in the program, students pursuing the certificate must submit a Declaration of Candidacy. Students are encouraged to declare candidacy as soon as possible, but no later than after the third Learning Project in the program. To receive the certificate after completing all program requirements, students must submit a Request for Certificate. All requirements must be completed within five (5) years after the student enrolls in his/her first Learning Project. Students not pursuing a certificate are welcome to take as many individual Learning Projects as they wish.
Continuing Education Credit
Earn CPE credit towards NCMA certification and recertification.
