Enhancing Success Through Knowledge

Whether you're a seasoned veteran of the appraising world or a newcomer, our partnership with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) offers the only West Coast university-based program in appraisal studies. The combination of the expertise of the ASA and the strong academic reputation of the UC provides you with the highest quality and affordably priced appraisal training, courses and institutes. The appraisal certificate also prepares you for eventual membership in the ASA.

Learning the appraising business from our expert instructors enables you to succeed in today's competitive world of art, antiques, fine and decorative arts. You'll gain the specialized knowledge and practical hands-on experience to competently produce appraisals for a variety of specific objectives such as insurance coverage, estate tax, damage claims, charitable contributions, sale, dissolution of marriage, equitable distribution and liquidation.

As an ASA member, you'll qualify to receive a 10% discount on continuing education Appraisal Studies courses offered through UC Irvine Extension. Reference discount code "ASA10."

Certificate Requirements

Complete a total of 15 units: 4 required courses (3 units each) plus a total of 3 elective units. Receive a certificate by successfully completing all courses with a grade of "C" or better. All course work must be completed within 5 years. A certificate is awarded after you submit your Application for Candidacy / Request for Certificate form. English Proficiency Requirement
All certificate programs at UC Irvine Extension (classroom and online formats) require professional-level English language proficiency in listening and note-taking, reading comprehension and vocabulary, written expression, and oral presentation.
