Overview
The emphasis in Buddhism is on the teachings of the Buddha(s) and on the awakening
of human potential. “Buddha” is
a descriptive title meaning ‘Awakened One’ or ‘Enlightened
One’ and in its long history Buddhism has used a variety of teachings
to help people ‘wake up’ from restricting delusions.
Our Specialized Studies offering in Buddhism offers an overview of the history of schools
within Buddhism throughout the world and a selection of courses within various
traditions. |

Program Requirements
The program consists of a total of 90 hours of study. There is
a required 3-unit overview course and 6 units of electives. The curriculum
consists of a combination of credit and Continuing Education credit courses
covering history, theory, and practice. All course work must be completed within five years.
Who Should Attend
The program is designed primarily for people with a personal interest in exploring
the rich traditions associated with Buddhism but will also serve the professional
community of yoga instructors in further developing their understanding of
yoga and meditation. |
