Overview
This program is registered with Certified Financial Board of Standards Inc. CFP Board is a certifying organization whose mission is to benefit the public by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning.
CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, and marks are certification marks owned by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. These marks are awarded to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
The CFP® certification is the most widely recognized financial
planning certification in the U.S. UC Irvine Extension does not certify individuals

an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have
met its ethics, experience, and examination requirements. Students interested
in sitting for the exam must complete all of the required courses.
Continuing Education Units from the State of California Department of Insurance are available through some courses. MCLE Credit is available for Management X433.9, Estate Planning, and Management X433.92, Advanced Estate Planning, to members of the California State Bar.

Student Preparation for the CFP® Live Review Course
What UCI Extension students in the Personal Financial Planning Certificate Program need to do prior to attending the Live Review Course:
- You must order all of your pre-study materials formulated for your specific exam cycle. Call Keir Educational Resources at (800) 795-5347. Be sure and place your order through our liaison (Mary Grace at extension 101). Inform her you are enrolling as one of our California – UCI students.
- Order the BASIC PACKAGE of material. Mary Grace will make sure that your pre-study materials are not in queue at a delayed back order position. You will be billed when the materials are shipped. Make sure that you are not studying “Outdated Material”.
- You will need to study approximately 250-300 hours before you take the exam. This will include the time you spend in the 6 Day Live Review Class.
- Enroll to take your exam with the CFP® Board of Standards and complete your registration. If you do not register you will not be allowed to test. Check the CFP® Board web site for registration deadlines.
- Enroll in the UCI Extension Live Review 6 Day Exam Prep Course (Mgmt X433.31 Review Course for the CFP® Certificate Examination). See flyers on right of screen for dates/details.
- There is a 4 Day Elective Class (Mgmt X433.23 Financial Planning Case Study and Advanced Calculator Usage: Tools to Help You Pass the CFP® Certificate Exam) offered to supplement your efforts and can count as an elective for your PFP Certificate Program. If your course work has taken you a couple of years to complete, this is a good overall refresher. Students feel it gives them that extra edge. See flyer on right of screen for dates/details.
