Advanced Lens Design (Section 1)

EECS X493.1  (3)

Become more expert in the design of optical lens design. This advanced, hands-on course will further your understanding and application of optical image evaluation techniques to design multi-element lens systems.Participants will learn how to construct merit functions for different types of lens systems including optimization, variable setting, and boundary constraints. The knowledge and skills achieved in this course will prepare participants for design engineering applications. Topics include: advanced optical image evaluation techniques, multi-element lens systems, merit functions, achromatic systems and designing with stock lenses. Prerequisites:Successful completion of EECS_X493, or have prior experience or knowledge in Lens Design and Zemax Software. College level algebra, physics and familiarity with optics or equivalent experience. See enrollment confirmation for login information. Students are required to bring a lap top to this class to utilize the Zemax software.

Valentina Doushkina, has over 20 years experience in a conceptual, optical, and opto-mechanical design, modeling, prototyping, and production of advanced systems such as laser scanners, laser Doppler vibrometers and velocimeters, spectral imager of atmospheric emission, LCD projection, optical systems for iLasik.
