A required course in the Specialized Studies Program in Sustainable Buildings: Renewable Energy Management. While the rest of the economy is shrinking, renewable energies are experiencing double-digit growth. This rapid growth industry has recently been spurred by energy legislation, government incentives, and increased commercialization. This class will explore and evaluate the most prevalent forms, feasibility, and applications of renewable energy sources. By gaining insight into the complexities of renewable energy, students will gain a valuable education on how they can participate in this rapidly growing market segment.
Brandon H. Tanner, M.B.A, M.S, FMP has divided his career between California's two largest electric utility companies, Pacific Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison. Brandon has overseen the operations and maintenance of 2.2 million sq. ft. of properties located in the greater San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose areas. He is currently Manager of Programs & Contracts for Southern California Edison, providing strategic, operational, and sustainability support to the Corporate Real Estate Department. Brandon has a bachelor's degree in Facilities Management from Brigham Young University, a master's degree in Business Administration from California State University East Bay and a masters of science degree in Green Building from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture. He has also received the Facilities Management Professional designation from the International Facilities Management Association.
