An elective course in the Paralegal Certificate Program. To enroll in this course you must be an official certificate
candidate and have completed the following required courses: Fundamentals of
Legal Assistantship, Legal Research, Legal Writing, Contracts, Ethics,
AND at least one of the Civil Litigation I, Civil Litigation II or Civil Litigation III;
have an overall 3.0 grade point average; and a staff interview. Gain a working knowledge of the paralegal's role through an internship position in a law firm, corporate in-house counsel's office, law-related government agency, courthouse or other legal setting. Attend three meetings with the internship coordinator, work in a legal setting for 100 hours and submit a report of the experience based on a daily log and time sheets kept throughout the quarter. Attend the required information meeting to obtain the current internship application packet and eligibility requirements. Rafia Aleem, B.A., is the Paralegal Manager at Green & Hall, A.P.C. She received her Certificate in Legal Assistantship from UC Irvine Extension. Aleem was the President of Orange County Paralegal Association in 2007 and is now a current Board Member.
