Finance for the Non-Financial Manager (Section 1)

A required course in the Certificate Program in Business Administration.
This course is for those individuals who are or will be asked to assume finance, cost, and budget responsibilities and for individuals who interface and work with accounting and finance departments. Content of the course includes selected aspects of finance from a non-financial specialist perspective. Specific topics include: financial analysis; planning, forecasting, and budgeting; cash flow, and strategic financing. This class will be interactive and will require the active involvement of the participants in finance related activities. Early registration recommended. Larry O'Connell, M.B.A., is a senior financial analyst for Metro-North Commuter Railroad and has over 20 years experience in the corporate, nonprofit, government and academic settings. He has managed finances in the $100,000,000 range, managed multimillion dollar projects (including at a nuclear power station) and very involved with technology and training issues. He has trained and counseled hundreds of employees and former students and volunteers with the Federal reserve bank of new York to enhance financial literacy of elementary and high school students. O'Connell has 20 years teaching at the college/university levels; including: The City University of New York, The State University of New York, UCLA and New York University.
