Language Assessment (Section 1)

A required course for TESL.
Improve your understanding of assessment strategies and the political and sociological issues surrounding the field of language assessment. Gain new insight into the purpose of testing, methods of assessment, state mandates regarding the language assessment and placement process, interpreting test results, and technical testing concepts. Study both standardized and teacher-made tests and learn about sensitive issues such as the sociological and psychological results of testing. This course includes 2 online sessions.

Marina M. Michalski-Wetrosky, MA, has served the English Language Learner community in southern California public schools since 2000. Currently, Ms. Michalski employs her linguistic expertise and passion for the exploration of diverse cultures by teaching ELL students at all levels of literacy in the Anaheim Union High School District. When not in the classroom, Ms. Michalski travels widely as an educational consultant, presenting the latest in language learning methodology and literacy strategy at the local, state, and national levels.
