Doing Business with the Federal Government (Section 1)

An elective course in the Management of Business Contracts Certificate Program.
Explore the elements needed to do business with the Federal government and the fundamental qualifications for obtaining a contract - from networking, to contract management, through closeout. Discuss the basic qualifications, how to find contract opportunities, the ins-and-outs of the methods for selecting sources, building better & more responsive proposals, navigation of the negotiations and award process, successful contract management, and closeout or reacquisition. University of California, Irvine Extension is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider (provider number 2560). Eligible participants will earn up to 30 hours of general MCLE credit. MCLE hours are based on the actual number of hours a student is logged in to the course, up to a maximum of 30 hours. In addition, students are required to participate in 1-hour synchronous discussions. A computer and a telephone is required. See enrollment confirmation or website for specific WebEx dates.

Christopher C. Sanders, M.S., PMP, is the head of the Program Management Office for the Space Innovation and Development Center. He has more than twenty five years of operations, logistics and DoD Acquisition experience in key management positions and roles.

Suzanne S. White, M.S., is an Air Force procurement analyst in Colorado. She creates various products in support of leveraging reliable, relevant, and credible training and information throughout the contracting community. Over her 15 year career, she has been a warranted contracting officer across operational and systems contracting. White has published two knowledge management products - The Contracting Guidebook & The Joint Contingency Contracting Handbook - and is a frequent consultant for acquisition-related knowledge management initiatives for the Air Force and the Department of Defense.
