An elective course in the Paralegal Certificate Program. Eligible participants will earn up to 30 hours of general MCLE credit based on attendance.
Explore the broad scope of business law and acquire practical knowledge of legal issues in the business environment. Apply critical and analytical thinking skills, as well as integrate research and presentation experience to reinforce concepts presented. This is a survey course in which you will examine the legal system, written contracts, banking law, employment law, sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies, bankruptcy, real property, foreclosure, torts - and a variety of other business related topics.

Zachary Zaharek, J.D./M.B.A., has been practicing law in California since 1995. He is Senior Corporate Counsel at First American Corporation, where he manages the legal licensing division of a First American subsidary. Prior to joining First American, Mr. Zaharek was Corporate Counsel for Downey Savings & Loan Association and Corporate Counsel for Proctor & Gamble's Professional Beauty Division. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Western State University, School of Law. Mr. Zaharek is the former President of American Corporate Counsel Association, Southern California Chapter.
