An elective course in the Paralegal Certificate Program. Eligible participants will earn up to 30 hours of general MCLE credit based on attendance. This course introduces both legal and practical aspects of corporate law. We will explore corporations, sole proprietorships, partnerships and limited liability companies. You will analyze the corporate world through case studies on Enron, Imclone, Wal-Mart and other such corporate entities. You will learn mechanics of corporate formation including federal and state securities laws. You will also become familiar with corporate websites such as the California Secretary of State where you'll draft articles of incorporation, bylaws, and fictitious business name statements. Thus, this course will give you a foundation of knowledge useful to the corporate paralegal. This course is conducted through our online course management system. In addition, students are required to participate in 1-hour synchronous discussions. A computer and phone is required. Please refer to the Paralegal Online FAQs.
Kai Williamson, B.A., has over 15 years of combined experience in Real Estate, Corporate and Business Law. Williamson is the President of the Orange County Paralegal Association and Chairperson for OCPA's Corporate Real Estate section.
