Project Risk Management (Section 1)

A required course in the Certificate Program in Project Management.
Project success is achieved by project managers and teams skilled in coping with project risks. Making good decisions and using proven processes requires both training and experience. Gain in-depth practice applying subjective and quantitative methods to an actual project situation. Learn from peers through risk analysis exercises, case studies, and persuasive presentations. Discover how to recognize, assess, and respond to project risks in an appropriate, cost effective manner in order to make better decisions. Prerequisite: Mgmt X442.28, Introduction to Project Management Principles and Practices. If the potential participant has had significant experience managing projects, they may be allowed to waive the prerequisite requirement with the express permission of the instructor. This course is approved for 24 PDUs from PMI.

Marty Wartenberg, M.B.A., P.E., has spend over 30 years managing projects in the areas of aerospace, software, commercial product development, oil field instrumentation and bio-tech R&D. He has worked with many companies setting up project offices and coaching high technology teams. His projects have been featured in the PMNet as examples in high technology rapid development type projects. He has taught management in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America. Prior to working for UCI, Wartenberg held executive level leadership positions in the high technology industry including President and CEO, Executive Vice President and COO, and Vice President of Engineering and Research and Development. He is currently the "Chief Inventor" of a start up company called ZeroBoundary in the on-line Leadership and Project Management Training business.
