A required course in the Business Analyst Certificate Program. This course focuses on testing and test plans, and on differentiating the roles of verification and validation in achieving quality. Verification and validation are the backbone of test plans. Tasks include: reviews, inspections, testing, defect reporting, and user acceptance testing. Participants develop a test plan and write and review test cases at the business level. Prerequisites: Experience working in a business environment; experience working with Windows-based office applications is preferable.

James E. Pederson, M.B.A., senior manager over systems and software engineering processes and tools for Boeing-IDS Long Beach. He is responsible for development and deployment of commerical and in-house software tools and environments, and advanced process and metrics. He has over 15 years experience with software and general engineering tools, technologies, and methods. He has 7 years teaching experience at UCI on these topics and has spoken at various academic and professional society events.
