This course introduces students to PL/SQL and helps them understand the benefits of this powerful programming language. Students learn to create PL/SQL blocks of application code that can be shared by multiple forms, reports, and data management applications. Students learn to create anonymous PL/SQL blocks as well as stored procedures and functions. Students learn to develop, execute, and manage PL/SQL stored program units such as procedures, functions, packages, and database triggers. Students also learn to manage PL/SQL subprograms, triggers, declaring identifiers and trapping exceptions. Students are introduced to the utilization of some of the Oracle-supplied packages. Victor T. Wu, M.S., is a CTO and co-founder of EmpowerTrain, an Irvine-based company that offers high-end training on technologies including Oracle Database, Sun Solaris, Microsoft technologies. He has worked in the information systems field for the past 25 years as developer, information architect, director, and CIO. His expertise includes C++, Java programming, Oracle database and SQL Server development, high availability and performance tuning, Sun Solaris security and system tuning. He is frequently involved in large scale database and system tuning projects in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Wu is a UCLA graduate, Oracle Certified DBA, Oracle Certified Developer and holder of three Oracle Masters. Wu received UC Irvine Extension's Distinguished Instructor Award (2003) and UCLA Extension's Distinguished Instructor Award (2007).
