A required course in the Certificate Program in Human Resources Management. Learn the skills you will need to recruit, hire and retain qualified individuals who can meet the growing and changing needs of your organization. Explore the hiring process including the administrative preparation, direct hiring activities, retention practices, and related employment laws. Understand the ins and outs of applicant sourcing, effective interviewing, accurate assessment and evaluation, while gaining a clear understanding of your role as a human resources professional in interfacing with management and other staffing decision makers. Discussion topics will include importance of staffing metrics, tips and tools for recruiting on the web, and a review of creative recruiting methods.
James Stodd, M.S., earned lifetime certification as a "Senior Professional in Human Resources" (SPHR) awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute. Stodd brings to UCI his extensive experience as an HR executive and management consultant. His specialty is Organization Change and Business Transformation. He has served as the Vice President of Human Resources for leading healthcare organizations including; BroMenn Healthcare (Bloomington, IL), Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (Baton Rouge, LA), and SCAN Health Plan (Long Beach, CA). He has also worked with several leading consulting firms including; Ernst & Young, Hay Management Consultants, HR Alternatives, Inc., and First Transitions. Currently he maintains an independent consulting practice under the umbrella of "JT Stodd & Associates", and is an active member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Consultants. He has provided consulting services to many clients including those in the manufacturing, construction, professional services, healthcare, petrochemical, finance, education and the public service sectors
