Introduction to Spa and Hospitality Operations (Section 1)

A required course in the Spa and Hospitality Management Certificate Program.
Gain an understanding of the general operational and administrative procedures in spas, private clubs and the hospitality industry. You'll develop an understanding of unique sensitivities required in managing and operating in the increasingly lucrative and complex spa industry. Other topics include: business planning, marketing, licensures, compensation models, legal and ethical issues governing club, hospitality and spa projects, insurance issues, technical issues, billing, inventory control, client file management, privacy issues and the development of standard operating procedures. You'll also learn the guidelines for optimizing energy efficiency in facility operations including design, energy, and water and waste management issues. Revenue generation and spa menu development; compensation models; software selection and effective reservation yielding protocols will also be addressed. Peter Anderson, M.P.S. HAd, CEO of Anderson and Associates is a graduate of Cornell University's Hotel School. Anderson specializes in spa market and financial analysis, wellness trends, and emerging healing modalities. He is a Reiki Master and has lectured on energy medicine and therapeutic touch modalities internationally.

Julie Raistrick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and a Masters of Science degree in Exercise Science. She has held positions as Health Club Manager for a variety of corporate health and wellness programs, Spa Director of a Day Spa, and most recently, the Spa Director for Montage in Laguna Beach, California. Julie has been working with Spa Montage for almost five years and have been a part of the organization's task forces for the past two years. She has had the opportunity to speak at industry conferences during her career in the area of Spa and Hospitality Management.
