A required course in the Spa and Hospitality Management Certificate Program. This course provides the student with a comprehensive application of financial management for the spa industry for spa operations managers and supervisors. Topics include: understanding the components of a spa financial statement, capturing the key drivers of daily revenues and expenses, using ratio analyses as a business evaluation tool, and understanding the basic principles of spa accounting and financial responsibility. Students will have the opportunity to use various problem solving methods and apply them to managerial situations tailored for the spa industry. Students will analyze, quantify, and evaluate the “wellness” of specific spa businesses, and use these skills to set the course for greater financial success.

Pat Johnson, M.B.A., is an expert in Total Customer Experience Processes, with more than 25 years experience helping multi-million-dollar companies increase their bottom line through innovative practices and procedures. By developing and implementing targeted sustainable processes, she has helped her clients increase customer satisfaction, revenue and efficiency and enhance overall business success. Prior to forming JVE Corporation, Pat served as Vice President of Customer Services at FileNet Corporation in Costa Mesa, California. In this role, she envisioned and installed a Total Customer Experience operating model that focused on high-value customers and improved service while reducing costs. Before that, she was Marketing Director for Infonet Corporation, a global privately-held consortium in El Segundo, California. There, she helped devise “winning” pricing strategies to meet customers’ dynamic demand from global data connectivity. Pat earned an Executive MBA from University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from Western Michigan University.
Ann Emich-Patton, M.A., is a veteran spa director whose twenty year career has been focused on the development, management and operations of some of the most prestigious spa facilities in the country. She is currently a spa consultant, lecturer, and advisor to many industry organizations.
