Developing an Independent Educational Consulting Business (Section 1)

A required course in the Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program.
This course addresses the key components necessary for developing and operating an independent educational consulting business. Topics include: business finance options, contracts and agreements, software and hardware options, insurance and incorporation and how to develop and implement a business plan. The course highlights issues related to setting fees, collecting payment, managing the inquiry process, hiring employees and subcontractors, budgeting and launching a website for business. Charlotte M. Klaar, MS, ABD, CEP is Executive Director of College Consulting Services with offices in both Massachusetts and Maryland. She has almost 15 years experience as an educational consultant and has taught many others the ins-and-outs of the business aspects of the profession. Ms. Klaar is currently serving on the IECA Board of Directors and has been an active member of that organization since 1995. She is a Certified Educational Planner and a lifelong learner.
