An elective course in the Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program. There are hundreds of books and websites devoted to college planning. This course focuses on identifying and managing all of this information to help you identify the most reliable resources for college planning. In addition, the course provides an overview of the resources and tools available for educational consultants and when to use them in one's practice. Example areas include: working with parents, helping students with careers, helping students make successful college visits, dealing with selective college admission, non-travel ways to learn about colleges, and online resources. Bari Norman, M.A., Ph.D., is a Certified Educational Planner and the Founder/Director of Expert Admissions, an admissions advisory service based in New York and Miami. She has worked as an Admissions Counselor at Barnard College/Columbia University, the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid for Barnard's Pre-College Program, and as the Associate Director of College Counseling at Hillel High School in Florida.
