An elective course in the Certificate Program in Personal Financial Planning. Get the practical, on-the-job experience you need to advance your career in personal financial planning. As an intern, you will be placed with a well-rounded financial planning firm. You will have the opportunity to participate and learn from such job functions as writing financial plans; investment, tax or other strategic research; marketing; client communications, using a computer for financial planning and investment management; overall methodology of providing financial services to clients and more. Financial planning organizations offering internships do so with no obligation to provide compensation to interns. However, your internship is an excellent opportunity to meet and work with professionals in the field and apply the material you have studied while acquiring valuable on-the-job experience. Refund deadline is Jan 4, 2010. Prerequisite: Completion of Mgmt X433 Survey of Personal Financial Planning or equivalent work experience. Class meets on campus with instructor on first, second if needed and last meeting. The rest of the meetings will be held off-campus at internship site. Offered on a pass/no pass basis only, unless you request otherwise. Please see enrollment confirmation for internship application form and instructions. This form must be submitted prior to the first meeting. Please contact Francine Berg at fberg@uci.edu with any questions.
