About the Libraries

With close to 2 million volumes and approximately 19,495 serial subscriptions, the three units of the UC Irvine Libraries form a major information source for you, your students and the greater Orange County community.

The UC Irvine Libraries' rich electronic resources include easily accessible databases of the University of California Library system and other selected databases, which are available for your use.

Langson Library

The Langson Library supports teaching and research in arts, humanities, social sciences, education, and business and management. The Langson Library features a state-of-the-art Multimedia Resources Center with a computer lab and a video/ laserdisk playback area, and a Technology Enhanced Classroom for hands-on library instruction, which also serves as a computer lab when not in use for classes. At the Reference Desk on the first floor librarians offer many services in support of your studies and research. Current Periodicals/Newspapers house a wide selection of scholarly and popular titles, foreign and domestic newspapers, and back issues of newspapers and journals on microform.

 

Science Library

The Science Library houses UCI’s science, medicine, and technology collections including material in the fields of astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, earth systems science, engineering, mathematics, medicine, and physics. The Science Library provides over 2,000 individual study spaces, over 50 group study rooms, and an extended hours study center. In the Reference Room on the second floor expert staff are available for research assistance and consultation, and several computer workstations provide access to a vast array of electronic journals, research databases and other Internet resources. The Science Library also features the Interactive Learning Center (a computer lab and library instruction center), and a current periodicals reading room.

Grunigen Medical Library

Located at the UCI Medical Center in Orange, the Grunigen Medical Library contains the university’s primary clinical medicine collection of more than 80,000 book and journal volumes. Services include reference assistance, CD-ROM user self-search workstations, and two computer technology facilities featuring an instructional laboratory and an Information Technology Center.
