4-Week Business English
Benefits
Focus on reading, writing, and discussion of International Business practices in areas such as marketing, finance, management, decision making, and e-commerce.
- Learn to apply the most effective communication techniques in a variety of business situations.
- Benefit from this short, intensive program by brushing up on your English skills.
- Examine American business vocabulary and concepts, as well as cultural factors, which can affect International Business transactions.
- Acquire the computer skills needed for success in business through extensive hands-on training in the following computer applications: MS Word, Power Point, and Excel, as well as Internet access programs.
- Receive additional instruction from elective courses, including TOEFL preparation, idioms, business English, interactive grammar, music, pronunciation, and American film.
- Gain exposure to the dynamic economy of Southern California through guest speakers and visits to local corporations.
- Prepare for a Professional Certificate Program through UC Irvine Extension.
- Earn a certificate of completion upon successful conclusion of the program.
Requirements
- Classes require a minimum of intermediate English skill level and active participation.
- You must have a iBT TOEFL score of 45 (paper-based 450), a TOEIC score of 500, or equivalent business experience to enter the program.
- To attend this program, you are required to obtain a student visa (F-1).
Schedule (Up to 90 Hours)
Business English courses are held in the morning, Monday through Friday, for a total of 72 instructional hours. In addition, you may choose one or two afternoon electives for a total of 90 hours of instruction.
