Members will hear the varied and distinguishing sounds that give this music such a unique contrast to western classical music. Discussion will cover musical instruction methodology, solo versus ensemble performances, the relationship of music to poetry, and various performance aesthetics.
Course Presenter: Hossein Omoumi, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized master of the ney (reed flute) and the Maseeh Professor in Persian Performing Arts, UCI Department of Music.
