AH 102 THE BAROQUE WORLD OF FERNANDO BOTERO
Columbian artist Fernando Botero is famous for his extra-rounded figures and unique visual commentary on contemporary issues. Using universal themes, he captures the comedy and tragedy of human life. Two lectures will show the many facets of his paintings, drawings, sculptures and his link to past artists.
Presenter Jackie Powell will lead an optional tour to view Botero's work on Friday, November 20, at The Bowers Museum. Transportation will be on your own with driving directions available at the meetings. The exhibit runs until 12/6/09.
Presenter: Jackie Powell, MA, Art History, a popular OLLI presenter, has taught art history and appreciation at Golden West College and California State University, Fullerton; led Study Abroad programs in Italy and Spain; and served as an art education consultant to school districts and museums.
