AN ENGLISH LITERARY QUARTET (AH 107)
AH 107 AN ENGLISH LITERARY QUARTET
Welcome to the disparate literary worlds of Penelope Fitzgerald, Barbara
Pym, Muriel Spark, and Penelope Lively. These four British authors have portrayed mid-twentieth century England in the village and in the city. They have captured the lives of those who desperately cling to status and those who are invisibly desperate in their obscurity. All four of these writers have either been short-listed or winners of the prestigious Booker literary prize.
Leader: Nancy Brooks Rayl is a popular OLLI member and presenter. She is a former educator in California's community college system, specializing in literature and creative writing. An avid reader, she edits manuscripts, produces books and moderates writing workshops.
