SC 203 INTRODUCTION TO REGENERATIVE MEDICINE
Regenerative medicine is a new, interdisciplinary field of research and clinical practice that works with the body's natural healing processes using specially-grown tissues and cells (including stem cells) and artificial organs to cure previously untreatable diseases and injuries.
Week One: Overview of Regenerative Medicine with Peter Donovan, PhD, Professor, Department of Biological Chemistry and Cell Biology. He is Interim co-director of the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center.
Week Two: Research at UCI, Hans Kierstead, PhD, Associate Professor, Anatomy and Neurobiology. Reeve-Irvine Research Center. He is interim co-director of the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center.
