SC 205 THE REAL CSI: CRIME SCENE DETECTION AND ANALYSIS
The application of scientific methodology to detect and solve crimes involves three kinds of activities:
" Field analysis at a crime scene
" Laboratory analysis of the evidence
" Logical analysis relating the laboratory results to the crime scene
In this class the presenter will provide an overview to forensic science and discuss how these three issues relate to fingerprint collection and analysis, DNA profiling, and the use of databases to facilitate the identification and apprehension of criminals.
Presenter: Heather Heider, Supervisor, Forensic Services Section, Santa Ana Police Department, holds a BS in Physics, is an alumna of the California Criminalistics Institute, Department of Justice, and is a member of the International Association for Identification and of the Southern California Association of Fingerprint Officers. She has been with the SAPD Forensic Services Section for 11 years and as supervisor for the last 5 1/2 years.
