TEACHING SCIENCE IN THE 21ST CENTURY (SC 207)
SC 207 TEACHING SCIENCE IN THE 21ST CENTURY
The loss of potential leaders in the sciences during their freshman and sophomore years is a major concern if the nation is to continue its leadership in science and innovation. At UCI new approaches to introductory science education are being developed that seek to foster intellectual excitement and a spirit of enquiry on the part of the students while minimizing the potential of negative impacts on the research output of their faculty. In these classes, innovative approaches to teaching biology, the physical sciences, and pharmacology will be described.
