SC 208 GEOLOGICAL HAZARDS IN ORANGE COUNTY
Earthquakes and Landslides
Both the beauty of the scenery and the hazards of living in Orange County are affected by the geological characteristics of our area. This lecture deals with the two of the most prominent of the hazards: Earthquake measurement, mechanics and myths; Landslide location, triggers, and magnitude.
Presenter: Professor Merton Hill, Saddleback College, holds a PhD in geology from UCLA. He joined Saddleback College from the Union Oil Company of California. He currently volunteers to lecture on site at Crystal Cove and Laguna Coast Wilderness parks and this Fall is offering Marine Science and Geology of California courses at Saddleback College.
