WATTS TOWERS/SKIRBALL MUSEUM (SE 4)
SE 4 WATTS TOWERS/SKIRBALL MUSEUM:
Recycled Art in Los Angeles
An OLLI Fund-Raising Bus Trip
Our morning visit is outdoors to Watts Towers, a monumental piece of folk art, constructed single-handedly over a 33 year period. Every surface is embellished in astounding, magical patterns with all sorts of found materials!
Five years in the making and occupying an 8,000 square foot gallery, Noah's Ark inside the Skirball Museum is made of natural and repurposed materials along with everyday objects that have been fashioned into many, many things to see, touch, move, and discover. An afternoon of sheer play!
Note: We will sometimes walk over uneven terrain and be invited to "climb" and otherwise explore within the Ark. Please wear appropriate, stabilizing footwear.
Presenter: We will be assigned a docent at the Towers and will have handouts at the Ark to enhance out experience of that installation.
