Registration
Overview
The modest annual dues of $130 ($70 for Spring Semester only) guarantees you enrollment in 3 to 4 special courses each semester (6 to 8 a year), and also allows you to enroll in 4 to 6 other courses a semester (depending on availability). The enrollment form for each semester indicates courses that have open enrollment. In addition to regular classes, there are Special Event offerings, which meet for only one session. Typically there are 10 to 12 of these each semester, and you may register for those using the enrollment form. Other special offerings include travel programs, estate planning, and special UCI events.
Course Enrollment Procedure
Follow the Course Enrollment form instructions, asking you to indicate the courses you wish to take in priority order (1 through 8). We will make every effort to enroll you in at least 4 of your requested courses a semester. Please remember that this is in addition to guaranteed open enrollment courses, and Special Event and Travel offerings.
Enrollments are done based on date of receipt, a random selection process, and space available in the class, in order to ensure the most equitable member enrollment. Please call (949) 451-1403, (949) 824-5414, or (949) 824-8316 if you have questions regarding the process.
If, after enrolling in a course, you find that you cannot attend, please notify the course facilitator promptly so that your place in the class can be filled by the next person on the waiting list.
Special Event Enrollment Procedure
For those events requiring no fee, just follow the directions on the course enrollment form which asks for you to list the events you wish to attend in priority order. Every effort will be made to accommodate your requests, however, there are some events that have limited space, so those will be filled using the same criteria as course enrollments.
For events requiring a fee, please make checks out to UC Regents. Refer to the catalog for the amount. Follow the instructions on the Course Enrollment Form. Please note that if you request a refund(cancellation) for a special event with a fee you must contact the facilitator for that event. If the facilitator can find a replacement, then you will be refunded the fee minus a $10 administrative fee. If a special event is cancelled, a full refund will be processed.
Tips for Enrollment Process
- Enroll early. Classes fill up quickly. Make sure you are acquainted with the enrollment deadline on the form.
- Only send a check (made payable to the Regents of The University of California) with the class enrollment Form if the class has a special fee associated with it. Most Classes are included as part of your membership.
- Please complete an enrollment form for each member (e.g. one for you and one for your spouse if you are both OLLI members).
