- During fiscal year 2005/2006, UC Irvine Extension awarded 1,162 certificates in programs including Appraisal Studies, Business Analyst, Clinical Trials, Human Resources Management, Investor Relations, Medical Product Development, Personal Financial Planning, Project Management, and Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
- Over 77% of UC Irvine Extension's students have at least a college degree or higher. Additionally, 37% of students have graduate or post-graduate degrees. On average, our students range in age from 25-64, with a median age of 35.
- UC Irvine Extension provides customized corporate training for large-scale companies and organizations such as Advanced Medical Optics, Beckman Coulter, Boeing, Conexant, County of Orange, Northrop Grumman, Parker Aerospace, Southern California Edison, and more.
- UC Irvine Extension administers and facilitates UC Irvine Summer Session, which offers hundreds of courses to over 11,000 students, accounting for over 25,000 enrollments.
- The UC Irvine Distance Learning Center develops and delivers courses using online technology for the university as well as other strategically selected organizations, including the UC system's first fully online degree program. The first incoming class began the Master of Advanced Studies in Criminology, Law and Society in 2003, and 18 students graduated in June 2005.
- The UC Irvine Distance Learning Center is the first in the country to develop a training program for security professionals in collaboration with a large state-wide government organization.
- UC Irvine is the first University of California campus—as well as the only West Coast University—to join the OpenCourseWare Consortium, a noteworthy milestone that signifies an important institutional and organizational priority.
- UC Irvine Extension, the pioneer of the first “Spa and Hospitality Management” certificate program on the West Coast, is also the first university to offer a program of this type in a completely online format.

- UC Irvine Extension is the first University of California campus to receive approval from the ABA to deliver paralegal courses in an online format.
- UC Irvine Extension’s Investor Relations certificate program is the only fully online Investor Relations program in the country. The program has been developed in collaboration with the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), the recognized authority in investor relations.
- Extension serves a large international population each year in our English as a Second Language and professional certificate programs. Last year, we had over 2,000 international enrollments from 40 countries.
- Over the past 35 years, our Women’s Opportunities Center has grown, serving thousands of men and women by providing career transition counseling, workshops, and resources. In 1992, WOC permanently relocated to the Rachel Long Morgan Building on the UC Irvine campus, built through funds raised by community donations. The center includes counseling rooms, a resource library and a computer lab. Our Women's Opportunities Center is the only center of its kind in the UC System. In 2005, WOC celebrated its 35th Anniversary, "Making a Difference for 35 Years."
- In March 2005, UC Irvine Extension was named the number-one provider of Oracle training in the country through the Oracle Workforce Development Program (WDP).
- UC Irvine Extension established Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), a membership organization that provides intellectual stimulation to those who share a love of lifelong learning. OLLI combines the academic expertise of the UC Irvine campus with community-based expertise to offer over 140 classes a year in a broad spectrum of subjects. OLLI proudly maintains 700 members.
- UC Irvine Extension is actively involved in OCTANe@UCI, UC Irvine’s contribution to innovation-based economic growth in Orange County.
