Screenwriters sharing their secrets at UCI

Leslie Dixon, screenwriter of "Mrs. Doubtfire," will be among the speakers featured in a discussion on screenwriting for the UC Irvine Extension program.
The Saturday, Sept. 8, event is free and open to the public and runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in room 1100 of the Social Science Plaza on the UCI campus.
Attendees will be able to learn about and discuss screenwriting with Michael Berlin, host of UCI Extension's "Coming Attractions" film series; Linda Voorhees, writing of the TNT production, "Crazy from the Heart" and "For the Love of Zachary," an ABC mini-series; Terry Black, staff writer and story editor for "18 Wheels of Justice;" and Nelson Solar, who writes for "Thieves," an upcoming ABC action series.
Guest speaker Dixon launched her career with comedies, including "Look Who's Talking Now," and "Outrageous Fortune."
Her dramatic efforts include "The Thomas Crown Affair" and "Pay It Forward."
The moderator for the panel discussion will be Bob Woolery, whose most recent works include "Libido Factor," and a MGM project titled "Taj Mahal," starring Uma Thurman and Sean Connery.
