Awards recognize creativity and commitment

University Extension hosted over 150 supporters at its annual awards reception on Sept. 10 at the University Club. Dean of Continuing Education Gary Matkin presided over the festivities.

Distinguished Instructor awards were presented to:

Patricia Eyers – Business and Management
Judy Hay – Women's Opportunities Center
Diane Shimoda – Education
Linda Lee – English and Certificate Programs for Internationals
Derrick Lam – Engineering, IT and Sciences
Mark Tannin – Design and Digital Arts
Barbara Demarco-Barrett – Arts and Humanities

The UCI Faculty Award was presented to James Meeker, professor in the Department of Criminology, Law and Society and associate dean of Social Ecology.

Instructor for English and Certificate Programs for Internationals John Brawner earned the Dean's Outstanding Service Award.

The UC Irvine Extension Partnership Award, recognizing an organization that has forged an extraordinary partnership through corporate support or another special relationship, was presented to Sage Software. Dennis Wahlquist accepted the award for the Irvine-based developer of accounting software.
