Take Your Writing to the Next Level

On Oct. 5, UC Irvine and the American Society of Journalists and Authors will co-sponsor a writers conference called "Take Your Writing to the Next Level" on the campus of UCI. The keynote luncheon speaker is Joseph Wambaugh, and panelists include fiction writers writers and journalists such as Victoria von Biel, executive editor of Bon Appetit; Los Angeles Times columnist and author Steve Lopez; novelist Susan Straight; literary agents Betsy Amster and BJ Robbins; OC METRO Magazine Executive Editor Craig Reem, and more. Conference chairwoman is OC METRO'S Women's Business columnist Barbara DeMarco-Barrett. She says, "I truly believe there has never been such a writers conference in this county. Fiction writers will find much to choose from and so will writers of nonfiction." $150 in advance, $165 at the door.
