UC Irvine Extension Hosts Fall Career Night
Event focuses on career trends and continuing education opportunities in Business,
Management, and Information Technology
IRVINE, Calif. – August 12, 2005 – UC Irvine
Extension is proud to sponsor “Fall Career Night,” a two-evening
event designed to provide an exploration into different business and IT career
fields and the many educational pathways available to help students achieve
their goals. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place
in the Multipurpose Science and Technology Building on the UC Irvine campus,
Wednesday, September 7 and Thursday, September 8, 2005 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“UC Irvine Extension is always in touch with emerging industry and
career trends and is continually developing and offering professional development
programs to help professionals stay competitive in the business environment,” Lori
Muñoz-Reiland, Director of Business, Management, Legal and Information
Technology said. “Events like ‘Fall Career Night’ provide
an opportunity for our students and the general public to gain career insight
from industry leaders on issues such as new industry trends, job requirements,
professional networking resources, salary information, and much more.”
“Fall Career Night” will include a variety of program information
sessions, each featuring a panel discussion. Panelists will include advisory
committee members and instructors representing prominent local businesses such
as Morgan Stanley, The Capital Group, Bitfone Corporation, Taco Bell Corporation,
Young & Rubicam, Inc., Option One Mortgage, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach
and the Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Institute. Attendees will have the opportunity
to meet with program directors and staff, who will be on hand to answer specific
questions about each featured program, the curriculum, prerequisites, or course
requirements, and hear recommendations for ways in which attendees can advance
their professional careers through continuing education.
Day one of the event will include presentations on the following UC Irvine
Extension Programs:
- Project Management—A unique program that provides comprehensive
training in the latest tools, techniques, and processes to help achieve
project success at various levels of complexity.
- Personal Financial Planning— A
program designed to educate students on professional standards in personal
financial planning.
- Leadership and Management Program for Technology Professionals
(LAMP)—A
program that assists professionals in technical fields, to shape and
refine management and leadership skills.
- Paralegal—An ABA approved
program which focuses on the specific skills necessary to become a professional
paralegal.
Day two of the event will highlight the following:
- Marketing—A program providing core marketing knowledge coupled
with the latest in methodology, strategy and implementation.
- Business Analyst/System
Analyst—A program for professionals working
in business, such as product managers or marketers; and for IT specialists
who want to retain or acquire new skills that can’t be outsourced.
- Spa and Hospitality Management—The first program of its kind on
the West Coast, the Spa and Hospitality Management Certificate program,
caters to the growing need for spa professionals skilled and trained in everything
from business planning and managing day-to-day operations to positioning
for managed future growth.
- Human Resources Management— A program that
helps students obtain the knowledge and skills required to successfully
fulfill the role of human resource generalist.
- Oracle Certificate Training—A
program designed to prepare students for Oracle certification testing. Students
are prepared for a variety of entry-level Oracle job functions and career
advancements.
