00425 Counseling Your Clients on the New SAT and ACT
Thursday, September 17, 2015
11:00AM - 12:00PM

The New SAT is changing the landscape of admissions testing. The rigorous standards of the Common Core have made their way into the College Board’s flagship product, resulting in a more rigorous assessment with a decreased focus on processing speed. Many students will flock to the ACT in this year of transition, where they will face an assessment that is undergoing more nuanced changes including a revamped essay, comparison reading passages and tweaks to the math section. How will these changes affect your students? Who should take the new SAT, and who should stick with the ACT? This webinar will give you an inside look into the new SAT and revised ACT to give you the information you need to guide your clients with confidence through the new testing landscape. Please join UC Irvine Extension in welcoming Dr. Jed Applerouth, educational researcher and founder of Applerouth Tutoring Services, as he shares his insights into the shifting landscape of college admissions testing. The webinar will also include pre-registration advisement for individuals interested in UC Irvine Extension's fully online Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program.

00437 Agile Evaluation: Fixing the Broken Feedback Loop
Tuesday, October 27, 2015
11:00AM - 12:00PM

Learning and development, and particularly eLearning, has a broken feedback loop, and it's holding us back as a field. Because we usually can't see our products being used, we lack the most basic information necessary to improve what we do. Traditional evaluation at best is costly and difficult to measure, and at worst ignored all together, or implemented in such a superficial way that it's meaningless. Even good evaluation measures are not granular enough to inform future design decisions. Please join UC Irvine Extension in welcoming Julie Dirksen, consultant and instructional designer, as she addresses agile evaluation and the feedback loop. Agile evaluation methods will look at what we can learn from the field of software usability, and what practices we need to add to that to ensure successful eLearning design. Practitioners need to ensure they also have a feedback loop in order to move forward as designers and developers of eLearning. This webinar will include pre-registration advisement for individuals interested in UC Irvine Extension's fully online E-Learning Instructional Design Certificate Program.
