00451 Writing the College Essay: How to Best Support Students from Start to Finish
Tuesday, May 5, 2015
11:00AM - 12:00PM
uci.webex.com

For many students (and the parents, counselors, and teachers who support them!), the application writing component can be the most challenging aspect of the admissions process. But what really makes a "successful" essay, and how can we ease this process for students? In this webinar, we will discuss how to help students find their voices, narrow relevant writing topics, and write and perfect essay drafts. We will also discuss the specific role of an IEC within the essay writing process, and how best to support students while empowering them to be independent writers. While this webinar will focus primarily on the main college essay, we will also briefly discuss individual school supplements as well as writing samples. Please join UC Irvine Extension in welcoming Emily Grey Goldman, professional member of HECA and founder of Grey Guidance, as she shares insight into supporting students in the most successful writing process possible. The webinar will also include pre-registration advisement for individuals interested in UC Irvine Extension's fully online Independent Educational Consultant Certificate Program.
