California has been a national and international leader in environmental stewardship. Recognizing that global warming detrimentally affects the health and safety of humans and the environment, the California legislature passed Assembly Bill 32, and this was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2006. The assembly bill is known as "California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006." The goal of the law is to reduce greenhouse emissions by the year 2020.
