The Career Training Loan is designed for students who are self-financing their continuing education, and who are attending classes full-time, half-time, or less than half-time.  Please visit SallieMae.com for complete Career Training loan information.

Features

  • The Career Training Loan has interest rates that reward good credit and are as low as Prime + 0% for borrowers with excellent credit. Interest rates are variable and reset monthly.  Final approval is at the discretion of SLM Financial Corporation.
  • Loan fees are 0%–6.5%.
  • You may take up to 15 years to repay your loan
  • With the standard repayment option, you make level, monthly payments of principal and interest. The minimum monthly payment is $30.
  • With the interest-only repayment option, you make interest-only payments while you are in school and begin standard repayment of principal and interest once school is completed.
  • With the $10 deferred repayment option, you may defer payments for up to 12 months, not to exceed the anticipated graduation date on the application.

Application Process

  • School information for your application:  UC Irvine Extension school code 603683; branch code 00; school telephone (949)824-5191.
  • To apply online, log on to SallieMae.com, and select Loans for training.
  • Complete the online loan application and submit.  Should you need assistance with the Web-based application, please call Sallie Mae.  The cosigner, if required, should complete the application section, and sign the application.
  • If the loan is approved, the disclosure statement, Promissory Note and pre-filled loan application will be mailed to you for your signature.  Please mail back to Sallie Mae directly.
  • If you are not initially approved, you may also re-apply with a co-borrower.  If you have any questions, please call (888) 272-5543.
  • UC Irvine Extension will certify the loan separately.
  • If the loan is approved and all loan documents have been received by SLM Financial Corporation, SLM will mail loan check made payable to the school to UC irvine Extension within 72 hours of receiving documents.
  • UC irvine Extension will contact you when student loan check has been received.
