Work Force Investment Act (WIA) Training

Workforce Investment Act Can Fully Fund Your UC Irvine Extension Program

Displaced or disadvantaged workers may be eligible for financial assistance through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) when enrolling in approved UC Irvine Extension Certificate Programs. For students who qualify, the funds may be applied toward the cost of University Extension course fees, books, and materials for these certificate programs. Approved WIA students pay no out of pocket for their UC Irvine Extension certificate program. For a complete listing of approved UC Irvine Extension Certificate Programs click here and type "UC Irvine Extension" as Provider Name.

California Employment Development Department’s workforce development partners form a statewide collaborative network to address the skill development needs of the California workforce. The partners include the California Workforce Investment Board (CWIB), Local Workforce Investment Areas, community-based organizations, educators, state and local government agencies, and training providers. If you are interested in attending UC Irvine Extension using this funding, you must contact your local WIA (LWIA) One Stop Center in your area to determine your eligibility and receive authorization to attend. To locate your local One Stop Career Center, visit California One Stop Career Center and select your county from the menu on the left.

The WIA is a workforce development legislation that provides funding to address the employment and training needs of eligible professionals and dislocated workers through local One-Stop Centers. The WIA Title I financial assistance program and activities are an equal opportunity employer/program, and auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

UC Irvine Extension cannot approve students for this funding, nor can we counsel you on your eligibility for these funds or what funding is available from your local One Stop Center for our certificate programs. You must contact your local One Stop Center.

To withdraw from your certificate program:

Students who do not wish to continue their certificate program should contact the Student Services Office at (949) 824-5414 immediately.

When you speak to a LWIA counselor make sure to tell them that UC Irvine Extension is listed on the Eligible Training Providers List (ETPL).
